    Description

    This lot contains a cover carried on the Pam Am Clipper Survey Flight for FAM 14 from San Francisco to Honolulu and back to San Francisco on April 16, 1935.
    Cover included:
    4/16/1935 San Francisco cancel with red Pan Am cachet.  The cover has the proper receiver in Honolulu on the 17th.  It returned to San Francisco leaving Honolulu on the 22nd and arriving on the 23rd; it has the appropriate postmarks and blue cachet for the return flight.  The flight actually departed from (and returned to)  the Alameda Yacht Harbor across the Bay (just NW of what is now Oakland Airport); this is the same terminal where the B-25's were loaded aboard the USS Hornet for the US attack on Tokyo in 1942.  The cover is listed as AAMC #1230 variation in the Trans Oceanic Record Flight section of Vol. 4 from the 5th Ed.  The cover has a sealed flap.
    Condition is as shown in the pics.  The cover has significant faults - it was roughly opened at the top and shows numerous tears mainly on the reverse.  It is still quite attractive from the front.
