    Description

As the result of still another route exchange agreement – this time with American Airlines – which
became effective in mid-1975, Pan American acquired the latter airline’s Foreign Air Mail Route 26 authority to serve
Hawaii and the South Pacific directly from New York and Dallas / Fort Worth (DFW). Service from
these two new gateways enabled Pan American to bypass the West Coast and to provide flights from those
    cities to existing
    Foreign Air Mail Route
14 Points not served by American Airlines.
This cover was carried on the inaugural Foreign Air Mail Route 14 flight from the United Nations Post Office in New York to Honolulu, Hawaii (
where it was backstamped) and is listed in the Foreign Air Mail Flights (FAM) Section of The American Air Mail Catalogue as F14-240Ua.
