    =====
    This French plate, from the 1800s, measures aprox. 8 1/4"
    Scene shows a Wizard looking though a telescope.
    Written at the top
    :
    L'Astrologue Qui Se Laisse Tomber Dans Un Puits
    Written at the bottom
    :
    Tandis Qu'à Peine À Tes Pieds Tu Peux Voir
    Penses-tu Lire Au Dessus De Ta Tête
    Google translates this French wording to
    :
    The Astrologer Who Lets Drop In A Well
    While at Your Feet You Can See
    Do you think Read Above Your Head
    The piece of paper, which came with the plate, states:
    "Manufactured by Luneville in France. The plate is titled, in French, at the top" The Astrologist Who Fell Into A Well". It shows a court astrologist (dressed like a Wizard or Magician), so intent on observing celestial bodies through his telescope that he doesn't notice he is about to tumble down a well."
    On the front, there is a chip at the one o'clock position. On the reverse, there's are chips at the 11 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions. These are somewhat hidden by the lace cut of reticulated border. - Please see photos for more detail. - This has been taken into consideration in the pricing of this plate.
    All in all, not in all that bad condition for being over 200 years old.
