FAM 22 First Flight 3 Cover FFC Matched Set Lagos Nigeria Dec 1941

Description

This lot contains a 3 cover matched set carried on the first FAM 22 flights from Lagos, Nigeria, December, 12, & 14, 1941.  The first departed on December 12th and and arrived in
Leopoldville, Belgian Congo (now Kinshasa, Congo) on the 12th. The other 2 were for the return (westbound) flight to Natal and Belem, Brazil.
Covers included:
12/12/1941 Lagos cancel with proper circular Nigeria cachet and backstamp in Leopoldville on the 12th.  The cover is listed in Volume 3 of the 6th Edition (and Vol. 4 of the 5th Ed.) of the AAMC as FAM22-8.
12/14/1941 Lagos cancel with proper circular Nigeria cachet and backstamp in Natal on the 15th.  The additional backstamps are somewhat curious; it appears the covers ultimately intended to be returned to the US, were removerd in Belem and flown  later in the month.  The cover is listed in Volume 3 of the 6th Edition (and Vol. 4 of the 5th Ed.) of the AAMC as FAM22-9b.
12/14/1941 Lagos cancel with proper circular Nigeria cachet and backstamp in Belem, Brazil on the 15th.  The cover is listed in Volume 3 of the 6th Edition (and Vol. 4 of the 5th Ed.) of the AAMC as FAM22-9c.
Condition is as shown in the pics.  The covers show some toning but, are in nice shape.
