    Description

Deregulation had a big impact on airline competition over routes to Florida. On December 15, 1979, exactly six months after Delta Airlines began service to Daytona Beach, it added Fort Myers and Sarasota / Bradenton. This action came two days after United Air Lines inaugurated service to these same points.
The USPS provided official cachets at all points. DC-9s served Sarasota / Bradenton and a Boeing 727 was used for the Fort Myers inaugurals.
This cover was carried on the inaugural Delta Airlines flight from Bradenton
    , Florida to
Atlanta, Georgia (where it was backstamped) and is listed in The American Air Mail Catalogue as DL-D11N.
The Bradenton Postmaster autographed the cover.
