    Description

Idaho Falls was used as a refueling stop on the American Airlines Jackson to Chicago route inaugurated
in 1986. However, it was not until 1987 that American Airlines provided regular service to this Idaho city. On
December 17 Idaho Falls was added as an extension on a Chicago to Salt Lake City route.
McDonnell-Douglas MD-80s were used for the Idaho Falls inaugurals.
This cover was carried on the inaugural American Airlines flight from
    Idaho Falls, Idaho
    to Chicago, Illinois
(where it was backstamped) and is listed in the The American Air Mail Catalogue as AA-D308E.
