Description

Following the 1934 air mail reorganization, direct air mail service between New York (Newark Airport) and Buffalo as well as Chicago via Detroit and Buffalo to New York service was recontracted as Air Mail Route 7. The route covered 794 miles.
Inaugural service consisted of two daily flights: New York/Newark – Buffalo – Detroit – Chicago (inaugurated May 13) and a second flight from Detroit to Chicago with all of the stations in between (inaugurated May 14).
Coincident with the inaugural Air Mail Route 7 flights, Newark, New Jersey was shown on the official Post Office Department schedule for the first time.
Service on this route was coordinated with Air Mail Route 30 service at Chicago, providing timely service between Fort Worth and New York.
